Due to the black market selling of SmoothStar in Thailand, we have suspended all orders in the EU.
We understand genuine customers want and need SmoothStar boards to help their surfing. However, unfortunately due to profiteering of the SmoothStar brand, we have to temporarily suspend our operations. We do not have an estimated date when the website will reopen. If you are a genuine customer, we recommend fill out the form below to be one of the first to obtain your board.
We apologise if this is disappointing for genuine customers but please try to understand that if we did not temporarily suspend our website, there would be no boards left for genuine customers for Spring.
Thank you for your understanding
We thank you for your patience and continued support.

In recent months due to the impact of the Coronavirus restrictions, many surfers, families, and surfskate enthusiasts have discovered how great SmoothStar is for on-land surf training. Subsequently, orders of all of our products have increased significantly.
To meet this demand, SmoothStar has increased production three times, however, due to the complex nature and unique components used in SmoothStar, production times are 3-4 months. This has caused a huge backlog in orders which we are currently processing.
We are currently arranging freight into Europe by Air rather than Sea. Stock is scheduled to be flown at the end of August 2020 and be in Europe about 1 week later but we don't have an exact date yet. We already previously had pre-orders back in June and that stock was sold out and now we are providing customers this ability in July/August.
We want you to have your SmoothStar as soon as possible. By filling out the form below, you will be placed on the waiting list. As soon as we have a date of arrival into Europe you will be notified within 24 hours.
We thank you for your patience and continued support.

JOHANNE DEFAY – 2015 WORLD #8 JOINS SMOOTHSTAR
Professional Female surfer Johanne Defay has joined the SmoothStar team. Finishing 2015 in position #8, she joins SmoothStar’s fellow top 10 surfer Filipe Toledo.
Johanne first became a fan of SmoothStar in February 2015 after receiving a 33″ Holy Toledo from France’s best Surf Coach Yann Martin. As SmoothStar is the closest to surfing outside the water, Johanne rode it exactly like she was surfing and loved it.
Johanne Defay is a professional surfer based in Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean and rides under the French Flag. Johanne is one of the most powerful surfers on the planet and is known to have the best big wave backhand manoeuvres on the Women’s WSL.
Johanne is 22 years old and has been on the professional Women’s Tour since 2014. She has a big heart and gorgeous smile outside the water but lethal and savage turns in the water.
Career Highlights
2015 Champion of US Open of Surfing
2014 Rookie of the Year
Finished in the top 10 in 2014 & 2015
THE JOHANNE SMOOTHSTAR PRO MODEL - 32.5
SmoothStar has created a new model for Johanne where she has a direct impact into the design and specifications of her model. The new model is 32.5″ and it fits in between the 32″ Flying Fish grom board and the 33″ Holy Toledo. The model has a deeper concave for better rail to rail turns, just like Johanne’s surfing. The tail is extra wide so this helps adults not just groms do radical snaps and not have the toes drop off the back of the tail. Johanne’s board is suitable for groms over 155cm and adults under 181cm.
THE DESIGN - TRAVELLING PALM
Featured on the centre of the board is a Travelling Palm called a “Ravenala” which is representative of her surfing sole. Similar to her life and career, ocean waves take the seed of the travelling palm to other parts of the world. They wash ashore, grow their roots and explore the ocean and the land.
5 Reasons we don't Sell Thruster Sperately
Our SmoothStar Thruster has been sold in over 40 countries across the world. It has made many customers very happy and for this we are stoked. However, as our boards and technology has improved, we have seen some customers put our Thruster on skateboards that contrast with our specifications of complete boards. We also getting various technical questions why customers couldn’t emulate our same surfing feel of our complete setups.
So with regret we have had to stop selling individual Thrusters world wide.
Top 5 reason why we stopped selling separately:
Our decks are wider so riders heals and toes don’t go over the deck. Heal & Toe movement is key to rail to rail surfing.
When you attach the Thruster to a normal deck, the wheel base (distance between back axel and front axel) is reduced. The wheel base is a major factor in matching a riders surf stance as discussed in our technical guide. SmoothStar decks are ALWAYS longer than other skateboards that try to replicate surfing.
Surf Skate decks should have concave as this helps the board grip when performing critical surf manoeuvres like cut backs or roundhouses.
Our kick tails are low and very small. These kick tails simulate the slight rise you would find on you surfboard tail pad.
Our wheels are the correct width to hold turns depending on a riders strength and weight. Bigger riders need wider wheels for more grip, Smaller riders need less width.
Our complete SmoothStar range has been rigorously tested to the highest standards. We have had ZERO complaints from over 10 years of manufacturing and distributing SmoothStar. Feel free to contact management regarding this new policy.
Why SmoothStar is the best Surf Skate?
Many customers ask us why SmoothStar is the best surf skate... why is it just so similar to surfing? Well we have been answering this question for many years so we thought we would record a detailed analysis for our followers. We took SmoothStar and another Surf Skate through its paces to document the differences.
Australian SmoothStar Team Rider explains SmoothStar
Ben Collison is born and bread on the surf rich coastline of Gold Coast, Australia. You can't get anymore typical "Aussie surfer" than Ben. Young, free and athletic - Ben is also a great surfer.
What is most interesting, is that Ben never really liked skating, he wasn't into it. But SmoothStar is not like a skateboard, its more like surfing - perfect for Ben.
Ben first came across SmoothStar from a surfer friend of his. They worked out pretty quickly how to get the best out of SmoothStar in order to help their surfing. Ben put a video together of some of his SmoothStar antics and sent it in. We were blown away with not only the critical turns he does on his SmoothStar but the amount of G-force he puts into his turns. We couldn't help but ask Ben if he wanted to join the SmoothStar as a team rider.
In between surfs, work and the Gold Coast night life, Ben is seen in the various smooth driveways and skateparks throughout the Australian Eastern coastline. Ben's favourite board in skateparks is the 32" Flying Fish, the for cruising the streets, he jumps on the 36" Cruisers.
